3 FAQs About Our Tricare Mental Health Providers
There isn’t a set limit on the number of therapy sessions that TRICARE covers. However, depending on your specific plan and condition, you may need to get a referral or pre-authorization for certain courses of therapy.
If you see a non-participating provider, you’ll likely need to pay the full amount upfront and then file a claim with TRICARE for reimbursement minus your cost share. These providers have the legal right to charge up to 15% more than the TRICARE allowable charge. Makin Wellness, however, is in network with TRICARE.
You don’t need a referral or pre-authorization for outpatient visits to a network therapist or counselor, except for psychoanalysis and outpatient therapy for substance use disorder.
